Expert Witness & Litigation Support

Two decades in electronic trading, derivatives, and exchange infrastructure — combined with hands-on experience as both fact witness and testifying expert in high-stakes litigation.

Trading Technologies v. eSpeed (2004–2010)

Multi-year patent infringement litigation in the Northern District of Illinois, with appeals to the Federal Circuit. Trading Technologies alleged that eSpeed's trading platforms infringed the "ladder" patents underlying TT's MD Trader interface — the static price column with single-click order entry that became standard across the futures industry.

Served as both personal witness and Rule 30(b)(6) corporate representative for eSpeed (Cantor Fitzgerald). The case proceeded through a four-week jury trial in 2007, resulting in a $3.5 million damages award. Testimony addressed the development history of eSpeed's trading systems, technical architecture decisions, and the competitive landscape of electronic futures execution.

Cross-Border Commodities Fraud (Martello Global)

Engaged as expert witness on a complex commodities transaction where fraud was suspected. The matter involved a cross-border purchase and refining contract with intricate payment structures and multiple counterparties.

Conducted forensic analysis of the accounting treatment, transaction flows, and contractual obligations to identify what had occurred and where responsibility lay. Findings were presented in a detailed witness statement prepared for court proceedings. The analysis contributed to a settlement agreement.
